In 1989, West Bay began offering a community-based vocational alternative to
the traditional segregated work shops. People at West Bay may now expand their lifestyle to
include volunteerism, self employment, part or full-time employment and
pursuit of hobbies and other interests. With varying levels of support from
staff, individuals develop a valued role in their communities,
greatly increasing their life experiences.
Just a few of the activities supported by West Bay's Day Services program include volunteering in
hospitals, recycling businesses, vending businesses, video store employment,
working at City Hall or the police station, therapeutic horseback riding,
using public transportation, taking ceramics classes, bowling, news paper
delivery, banking, shopping, library, and much more.
Supported Employment
