West Bay Residential Celebrates 30 Years of Service to Rhode Island
Non-Profit Has Improved the Lives of Hundreds of Developmentally Disabled
WARWICK, RI – For more than three decades, West Bay Residential Services, Inc. has been supporting developmentally disabled individuals in Rhode Island. Committed to the motto of “people supporting people,” the organization has been providing individuals with varying disabilities access to more opportunities and choice. Through their homes, day service programs, and in-home supports, West Bay has helped hundreds of individuals achieve greater independence and a more fulfilling role in their communities.
To commemorate its 30th anniversary, West Bay will hold an Open House for the Rhode Island community at its main offices on 158 Knight Street, in Warwick, RI on November 3rd. The event will include local officials, staff, families, and most important, the individuals from across Rhode Island that West Bay supports on a daily basis.
“To think back on the hundreds of lives and families we have had the privilege of being part of over the past 30 years is incredibly humbling,” said John DiMarco, the founder and CEO of West Bay Residential.
“Despite the challenges we’ve encountered, including last year’s floods which almost shut us down, our efforts are having an important impact,” DiMarco added. “This anniversary event will give us an opportunity to celebrate the people we serve, our staff that supports them, and educate the community about the importance of our work.”
West Bay Residential Services, Inc. was incorporated in 1981, and began their work with just one residential home in Cranston, RI. Over the past 30 years, the organization has grown exponentially and helped hundreds of developmentally disabled Rhode Islanders. West Bay now has 26 homes that offer 24-hour support, 7 homes that offer semi-independent living, a robust day services program, and also offers in-home supports to families caring for their loved ones at home.
